questions on raid commands via cli

I'm curious if i can expand a drive before the transform is completed.

example: i have a smart hba h240ar, i added an addtional drive to the raid via ssh

/opt/hp/hpssacli/bin/hpssacli ctrl slot=0 ld 2 add drives=2I:3:5    ( i just added a 5th drive to the logical raid)

it then transforms for about a day or 2 ,  then i expand the raid via

/opt/hp/hpssacli/bin/hpssacli ctrl slot=0 ld 2 modify size=max forced

 

Do i need to wait until the transform is complete before expanding the raid?
