Replace faulty Smart Array P410i in a HP ProLiant ML350 G6 ?
Have to replace a faulty Smart Array P410i in a HP ProLiant ML350 G6, and need help.
We have an P410i that appears to have an failure, but only from time to time. It happend to me that on one day i got presented an error (attached a screenshot), whilst on the next everything seems fine. We now have an spare part to swap the deivce, but at time of writing i allready had the HP ProLiant ML350 G6 at the ground and now backup, because non of the documents i had were any kind of helpfully on how to get to the controller. The even worser problem: I found no docs on how to swap that part, or was there any docs part of.
Any help appreciated.
Kind regards,
Udo

Re: Replace faulty Smart Array P410i in a HP ProLiant ML350 G6 ?
"i" means integrated, the controller is part of the systemboard, so you need to replace the system board.
But a "normal" P410 (without "i") PCI card can also do the job.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

If so: Why are those sold as spare parts (in this case: P/N 598256)?

Re: Replace faulty Smart Array P410i in a HP ProLiant ML350 G6 ?
even if the chip is the same, the module is different.
That one you found is for blade servers and cannot be used in your server model.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Replace faulty Smart Array P410i in a HP ProLiant ML350 G6 ?
And could you tell me what kind of how to find out where to search to find the right controller for our hardware?
Found nothin' in Part Surfer, but if the controller is integrated, thats the reason for sure.
Kind regards,
Udo
