Replacment of Smart Array P440 Controller Card

Hi, Can anyone confirm if a Smart Array P440 Controller can be replaced without data lose? or by replacing the RAID card, the RAID array will need to be rebuilt and data restored from a backup? The server in quesrtion is ML350 Gen 9 with a Smart Array P440 Controller which installed in slot4

Replacing the Smart Array P440 Controller in an ML350 Gen9 server does not automatically necessitate rebuilding the RAID array. The array configuration is stored on the drives themselves, which allows the new controller to recognize the existing array configuration without requiring a rebuild. However, it is crucial to ensure that the replacement controller is compatible and properly configured to recognize the existing RAID setup. It's recommended to have a current backup of your data as a precautionary measure before proceeding with the hardware replacement to safeguard against any unforeseen issues that might lead to data loss.
