S.M.A.R.T error on all drives
Hello,
I have a ML350 G6 with two array controllers : P410 and P410i. I have updated all possibile firmware on this server. I have 5 x Seagate Savvio 10K SAS drives. I am testing the drives with HP Insight Diagnostics. I put two drives on one array, 3 on the other.
Result : all 5 drives fail the S.M.A.R.T test, but suceeeds the other tests.
In the error log, I can see that "an internal software error has occured". Now I really doubt that my five drives might crash soon, so how come these 5 errors ?
Thank you for your help

Re: S.M.A.R.T error on all drives
Sometimes S.M.A.R.T errors could be reported incorrectly due to old firmware on the Smart Array Controller or BIOS or on the hard drives.
As a first step, update the following components:
a. BIOS
b. Firmware of the Smart Array Controllers
c. Hard drives
It is recommended to do an offline mode update using HP Service Pack for ProLiant. Select auto update to update all components that are recognized on the server. If the hard drives are not HP branded, then they will not be detected by HP SPP.
Restart the server once all updates are completed and run the Array Diagnostics Utility (ADU) report and check for any predictive failures, ‘read errors hard’ and ‘write errors hard’ counts.
Link to download HP SPP:

If there are errors after the update, then upload the ADU report.

Re: S.M.A.R.T error on all drives
Hi Vijayasarathy,
Thank you for answering me.
I believe everything is up to date, but I am currently downloading the service pack, so we will see.
If, instead of doing a test in the ACU, I do a diagnose, i have the follwing information :
"The following log is not supported for this configuration : S.M.A.R.T. logs (via drive).
Is this because it's a seagate drive and not a HP drive ?
