Hello!

If your server warranty has already expired and the server is not powering on, you will need to get it repaired first. Buying a warranty support after the expiration of the original warranty does not typically cover the repair of the existing issue.

You can contact the support team for further repair options. Once the server has been repaired, you can then inquire about purchasing extended warranty or support options to ensure ongoing protection for your server.

These are my opinions so use it at your own risk.

A call to repair, paying time & materials may be your only option and it can be an expensive one.  We took support responsibility for some ProLiant DL360 G7s from a company operating at our site, they'd never purchased Foundation Care support when the servers were purchased and didn't roll them onto a support agreement once the warranty had expired.

They called us when a server wouldn't boot; it turned out to be a failed Smart Array controller, I didn't have a spare in stock, so we had to do a CTR and then paid to roll them onto our support agreement once the repair was complete.  We experienced about a week of downtime because the server was older and parts availability was an issue.

I'm very aware of the 10-year product lifecycle now; know HPE sells a product for about 5 years and you can expect that product to reach End of Support Life about 5 years after End of Sale.  Don't let your support lapse, plan & budget O&M for that, then do the same with capital to replace that asset ahead of when it reaches EoSL.

There are some good 3rd party support options and I was pretty happy with Park Place Technologies and Service Express here in the US.
