I can confirm that this is only a case of perseverance. After many reboots the POST will eventually progress. The power options/F9/S7/S6 tricks did nothing for me.

Once you hit the lucky strike use the recent SPP to downgrade Broadcom firmware.

Hi guys . Just experienced similar issue . Had a chat with HP support tried all kinds of fixes but in the end HP support said it seems to be related to system board and it's recommend to swap it. Anyone else had anymore luck with getting passed starting drivers screen . Thanks

Re: Starting drivers. Please wait, this may ... take HOURS!!!

Hello guys, I want to share my story on this topic. I have a Proliant ML110 Gen9 with the B140 Array card embedded in the motherboard, so I couldn't disable or change it.
I had the famous "starting drivers" message, and it was truly a nightmare, but I solved it and I want to share with you how I did it.
First, like all of you, the famous "starting drivers" message prevented the boot. However, after reading dozens of articles, updating ILO to 2.84, moving the memory sticks from their slots, changing the power mode, etc., and also trying crazy ideas like pressing control-C repeatedly, or F9, or even starting in Legacy mode, I finally realized that if I rebooted via ILO repeatedly, one out of 15 times the system would boot with problems but still start up. So I took advantage of the boot to apply the Service Pack "P52574_001_spp-Gen9.1-Gen9SPPGen91.2022_0822.4.ISO" that I found on a website. This Service Pack allowed me to solve my problem and now I have no issues with booting.
I hope that patience will allow you to get your systems up and running. The repeated booting in ILO was done either as a cold boot or a reset. I don't have a record of which is more effective, but I have rebooted the system at least 15 times without success. However, one of those attempts, the system booted, and that was the opportunity to patch.
Good luck to everyone. Regards, Armando

I had this issue after I just brought the server and kitted it out with nice hardware,
I found out in the end it was hanging up due to there being no raid cache module so I brought a 2GB cache with a battery and after installing it on the SPI board it started straight up and works flawlessly now and has been for a while.
