Tape-Drive recognized as CD-ROM

Hi Folks,

maybe someone of you has an idea,...

i installed a brand new DL180G6 with MS 2008R2 Server (Standard, 64-Bit).

The P410-SmartArray COntroller is used for RAID.

An second P212 is especially  for the tape drive.

Everything runs fine. TOday i attached the HP StorageWorks Ultrium-5 3000 SAS Tape Drive.

The Tape Drive is recognized as a cd/dvd  an not as a tape drive in the device manager - an so it is in the backup software..

i downloaded the lastest files i found on the hp homepage...didn't work.

i tried the hp storageworks library and tape tools - version 4.13...didn't work.

i uninstalled the "3000SAS-cd-rom" and tried to give windows the drivers manually - it won't even

read the inf files correctly - no possible devices where shown in the manual driver dialog...

has anyone the same problem or an idea how i could fix this?

thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Tape-Drive recognized as CD-ROM

I found a solution for my problem that worked for me. Try the following steps:

1. Install the Tape Drivers and unistall the CD/DVD Entry for the Tapedrive in den device management.

2. Reboot the server.

3. Shutdown the server and switch of the Tape drive

4. Boot your server

5. When Windows is running, go to the device management.

6. Switch on the tape drive

7. Let Windows search for new hardware --> now the TapeDriver ist installed and everything works fine.

Maybe this solution will work for any others...this thread can be marked as solved through an admin,
