URGENT PLS DLT on Smart Array Controller

Hi,

will hanging a DLT from a Smart Array controller (config'd with 2 mirrors) cause any problems, also is it *allowed*? The ultimate OS to be installed will be NT4 Server

What specific model of Smart Array? Most of them do NOT support tape drives...

If you've attached the DLT to an add-on controller (ex. Smart Array 5300), I'd recommend attaching the DLT drive to the external SCSI port on the server because as was mentioned most Smart Array controllers don't support an external DLT and you'll have a dedicated channel for the DLT. Here's a snippet from DL580 QuickSpecs though "Integrated Smart Array Controller (supports Internal RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 5 and external tape devices)".
