VMWARE ESXi 5.0 on Proliant ML110 G7
Unable to perform an installation of VMWARE ESXi 5.0 (Vmware or HP Distribution) on a Proliant ML 110 G7.
The setup start then show the following error :
"#PF Exception 14 in world 2048"
The color of screen (PSOD) is purple.
Any idea ?
Thanks

It never has been.
Maybe this has something to do with drivers for the controller but that's just a guess..

Re: VMWARE ESXi 5.0 on Proliant ML110 G7
Works fine if you add an HP array controller (ie p410, etc) but will not work with onboard b110i sata controller. Not officially supported though

Re: VMWARE ESXi 5.0 on Proliant ML110 G7
I know it's not "supported" but can anyone give me some info on how they got it to work?
Been playing with this for a few days with no luck. :(
Can it work, booting off USB without using the internal disks/controller?

Re: VMWARE ESXi 5.0 on Proliant ML110 G7
I just ordered one of these servers in the hopes of setting up a lab environment for ESXi 5.
As long as you don't want to use the RAID controller in a RAID configuration, the link before explains how to make the changes to get the install to work.
I have not received my server yet so I have not verified it.
The B110i is a software RAID controller which ESXi does not support.
If you attempt to configure any type of RAID, when ESCi installs, it will still display each of the individual drives.
If someone gets the chance to test the above link, please post your feedback

VMware ESXi 5.0 on Proliant ML110 G7
VMware ESXi 5.0 works great on the HP ProLiant ML110 G7. It works without change on some machines, but I think the majority of the ML110 G7 ship with a BIOS setting set wrong, which causes the Purple Screen of Death (PSOD).
If you check my post on http://www.bussink.ch/?p=382 you will see how to modify the BIOS Advanced Power Management Options \ Minimum Processor Idle Power State: C6 States
I'm running four ML110 G7 with ESXi 5.0 Update 1 and they are all booting from USB keys that I put inside the case (you can change the USB boot order in the BIOS too).
Enjoy the ML110G7.
