Win-OF2 Drivers and HPE Ethernet 25Gb 2-port 640FLR-SFP28 Adapter

Hello,

I have installed the latest available firmware for HPE Ethernet 25Gb 2-port 640FLR-SFP28 Adapter Latest Version  Which is 14.26.1040.

I have also install the latest available  Drivers available : Win-OF2 version 2.40.22511.0 

And I get Warning message in Winwods Event Viewer

« Warning,8/3/2020 8:03:26 AM,mlx5,263,None,"HPE Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port 640FLR-SFP28 Adapter Firmware version 14.26.1040 is below the minimum FW version recommended for this driver.

Minimum recommended Firmware version for this driver:     14.27.456.

It is recommended to upgrade the FW, for more details, please refer to WinOF-2 User Manual."

Is it safe to run it like this ? what are we missing ?

Mellanox already freleased a new version of Win-OF2, Hopefully HPE will release it soon with a correct firmware !

Hi , Please try reflashing the firmware again and check if it throws any error message. Does it show any errors stating that the firmware update failed. If you get the failed error message, the issue is with the NIC and you may need to replace the nic.  As log as you dont have any performance issue, its ok to continue with the current version.

Sorry I don't understand your reply :

• The latest Firmware provided by HPE is 14.26.1040
• Mellanox warning says that the minimum version sould be 14.27.456.

Why do you want me to try to reflash the firmware ? (BTW it's like this for all my servers so not a bad NIC)

I just want to know if HPE is going to get things right and disribute Firmware that are compatible and matching the Drivers !

BTW : MLNX_WinOF2-2_50_50000 is ou, So I hope HPE will release correct matching Firmawre

We have the same issue. Is there any news on when the 14.27.456 firmware will be available? We have some strange driver related networking problems and a discrepancy in driver and firmware version won't help a lot in solving the problem.

Hello Han,

I received a reply from HPE and a new SPP is available ( 2020.09.0   5 Oct 2020 ).

In there you will have firmware 14.27.4000 for these card. I am installing those in my test environment.
