Re: Win Server 2012 ProLiant ML350 G4P

Win Server 2012 ProLiant ML350 G4P

Has anyone been able to get Server 2012 R2 to install on this server?  I'm upgrading from Server 2008 R2 but the upgrade crashes while loading the files.  The compatibility checker mentioned resolving driver related issues with the SCSI driver and LSI adapter, but after they are resolved it begins the installation and then crashes while loading files.  The crash wipes out Server 2008 R2 and I have to re-install the OS.  Any help would be helpful.  Thanks.

you are using the Smartstart CD for the 2008 install or the plain windows dvd? Normally win 2008/R2 should install without problems.

for Windows 20012/R2 boot the server direct with the windows dvd. It will recognize most of the hardware. After installing Windows 2012 - run the SSP (you can get it frome here: - Download it - unpack the iso with 7zip to the server and run HPSUM from place_where_you_extracted_the_image\hp\swpackages

The spp will update your firmware of the server and install the necessary drivers etc ...

Re: Win Server 2012 ProLiant ML350 G4P

Good morning, Robert.

Thank you for the information.  One issue I am having is that the server reboots into an endless loop while the server is loading the files for the Server 2012 installation when trying to install from a DVD.  I also tried to run it through a USB bootable approach, but get the same issue.  If I try to upgrade from Server 2008 R2 to Server 2012 R2, the compatibility service barks about drivers needing to be updated.  Once I resolve the issue and select install, it goes into an endless reboot loop when the server decides to reboot.  I also tried to burn the DVD at a slower speed to verify the integrity of the image.  Is there anything else I should try?  Should I run the SPP updates while Server 2008 R2 is installed and then try to push Server 2012?

Thanks again.

If you go to

and select OS supplementals you will find the 2012R2 bits, if needed, but i think your server is too old and not supported by hp for 2012, hence you will probably get a problem with drivers.
