Win2K Server Hangs at "Preparing Network Connections..."

I have a multi-processor DL380 running a just-installed Windows 2000 Server. After promoting the server to a DC, the server began hanging after reboots at the "Preparing Network Connections..." window. If I wait at least 5 minutes, it makes it passed this point (knock on wood). This is exactly the symptom of Microsoft's KB article Q266132. Anyone know what the fix is and how I can get it as quickly as possible? Do I really have to pay Microsoft $99 to ask about this obvious bug? Does Compaq have a fix?

Thanks,
Kent

I believe Win2K Service Pack 1 fixed most of these situations... Have you applied this?

Yes, I have installed SP1 and all of the latest critical updates. The KB article referenced above talks about a fix in SP2. Are there any known workarounds?

Thanks!

One possibility is name resolution. Is your Domain Controller the DNS also, or is your DNS compatible with Windows 2000?
