1611 Fan Error pointing out missing redundant fans

I have a DL380G2 that has been in service for quite some time now as a DR test machine. Recently we have started getting the 1611 error and it points out that fans 2,3, and 8 are missing.

These are redundant fans and we have never had them installed in this machine or any of our other DL380G2s. Why does it suddenly care, and what do I need to do to clear this error out?

Have you recently upgraded anything on the server?

BIOS? Proliant Support Pack/Management agents? Or is it just out of the blue?

Re: 1611 Fan Error pointing out missing redundant fans

I am trying to verify with my team that no one has applied any firmware updates or the like. So far no one has 'fessed up to it :) This is one server in a room of 12 identical G2's that are all used for disaster recovery testing.

I tried clearing the NVRAM as suggested in other threads, but this had no effect.

I've got no idea why this is happenning. You could try a firmware upgrade. Another thing you could try is to shut down one of your other test servers and swap the fans - or add fans and see what happens.
