CPU Upgrades to DL360 G5 and DL380 G5 Servers

I have a number of DL360 and DL380 servers acquired over the past 18 months.

These have a variety of Single & Dual Core CPU's. I'm looking to upgrade these to quad core CPU's but can't find anything that describes the certified upgrade paths matching mainboard revisions, CPU parts and bios levels.

Has anyone been through this... or know where to point me for information / assistance determining qualifying parts?

Thanks in advance.

Re: CPU Upgrades to DL360 G5 and DL380 G5 Servers

It's multiple ways to find a correct part.

First - refer to Service And Maintenance guide, for example http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00710376/c00710376.pdf on page 19 you can find acceptable CPU for your server. But this document refer to SPARE part numbers, and for upgrade you must know OPTION part number. You can find it in QuickSpecs. For example, http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12476_na/12476_na.html

In this document you can find all necessary Option Part Numbers for your upgrade.

Remark: Spare Part Number (SPN) for CPU will refer only on CPU, but Option Part Number(OPN) include Heat sink, VRM and CPU.
