DL 180 G5 - jumbo frame support for integrated NIC?

I'm trying to utilize jumbo frames (MTU 9000) on a DL 180 G5 using the onboard nic. Operating system is Linux (RHEL5).

the driver returns an error when trying to use MTU > 1500 - is this a driver issue or is the onboard NIC of the DL 180 just not capable of using jumbo frames?
