DL 58 G3 Installation through iLO.

I have 2 DL 580 G3 servers, 1 with redhat enterprise 4 installed now the second one i want to install through iLO, How can i do the installation.

Pls tell steps for this.

There are several things you can do...

Will the second server also be RHEl4? If yes, you can just pop a drive on the built system and replace with one from the second system. Then, put the popped drive into the new system and boot it up with no network, change the name/ip address and reboot. Make sure you pull the second drive from the system or you might lose the popped drive's data and have to start over.

Thats one way. Since you want to use the iLo, I can only assume you do not have access to the boxes so the first method migt not be feasible. Using the iLO, you can mount a "Virtual CD" to the server and, assuming your on a fast network, you'd be able to boot the server using the virtual CD and start the install. You should be able to "swap" CD's midstream without any issues.

You believe you can also use image files of your CD's. Might make it faster/easier.


What do you want to install on the second box? RHEL4? or something else?

I want to install RHEL4 on the second server.
The first is already having RHEL4.

Now i need steps how to create Virtual CD and finish with the installation.

Kindly tell me the steps for this...
