Error in installing 2nd CPU on HP Proliant Ml370 GS Server

(I) Initial Scenario
Implemented Windows 2003 Server on HP Proliant ML 370 Server ??? Intel Xeon 2.33GHX, 2 X 72GB SAS Disks, 4GB Ram using HP Smart Start 7.0

(ii) Issues
??? Server reported a ???CPU conflicting and ROM related error??? on the Severs after installing a 2nd similar CPU during the Power On Self Test (POST) and does not boot any further.
??? Downloaded and installed ???Systems RomPag Firmware Upgrade for HP Proliant ML 370 G5 (P57) Server???. CPU does not report any error but does not boot any further after POST.

The only major difference I see between the 2 CPU's is the Core Stepping.

Was the CPU obtained through an HP Reseller, or is it from a 3rd party?

You've upgraded the BIOS. That's good.

At this point you don't know if it is a compatibility issue between the two processors, the new processor is bad, or the socket on the system board is bad.

I would suggest removing the old processor temporarily from socket #1, and trying the new processor in socket #1. Try them one at a time. Also, I think it is recommended to have the lowest stepping processor in socket #1.

Check for bent pins in socket #2.
