ESX Server Setup hangs on BL20p G3
Hi,
I'm trying to install ESX Server 2.5.3 on a BL20p G3 and it keeps hanging at the same point every time. It hangs at the point where it says "Performing post install configuration...". Any ideas? It's being setup through iLO.
I've already done the following:
- upgraded BIOS firmware to latest
- ensured Full APIC is enabled for MPS table
- hyperthreading is enabled
- disabled 3 of the 4 embedded NICs
- tried ESX Server 2.5.1 and hangs at same point
Thanks,
Rhonda

Re: ESX Server Setup hangs on BL20p G3
Rhonda,
Are you using internal drives on the BL20p or trying to boot from SAN? If booting from SAN, there may some storage-array specific configuration required to ensure the blade is seeing the storage assigned to it.

Re: ESX Server Setup hangs on BL20p G3
Hi Scott,
Thanks for your reply. I'm using the internal drives. However, I received some feedback from another source as well and was able to get it installed. I was trying to install it thru iLO and use the Virtual Media option. But instead I was told to connect a local USB cd-rom drive to the server and that worked. I ended up installing 2.5.1 for now and will upgrade it later to 2.5.3.
Again thank you for your response :)
Cheers,
Rhonda

Re: ESX Server Setup hangs on BL20p G3
Rhonda,
How many VMs are you going to support on the BL20p, if you don't mind me asking?
