False Predictive Failure on Ultra 320 SCSI drive

I am having a problem with 2 recently firmware upgraded server where HP System Management is reporting predictive Failure on drives. When I replace the drive, the predictive failure switches to another drive in the array. On the drive themself, the orange light flashes constantly. This appear to have started a few weeks after we upgraded the BIOS, Raid Controller and disk firmware using Firmware Maintenance CD 7.70. The firmware upgrade were successfull.
The server are Proliant DL 380 G3 with Smart Array 6400 Controller
The drives are in an external Storage enclosure which has 14 x 146 Gb drives.
Has anyone experience these symptome? Any assistance will be appreciated.

Firmware CD 7.8 is out now. I suggest you try running that firmware.

Have you logged it with HP? If it's not fixed with firmware 7.8 CD you may need to downgrade the firmware (but i'd speak to HP as well).

You may also need to update the PSP on the device, which will update the SMH.

Re: False Predictive Failure on Ultra 320 SCSI drive

We contacted our hardware support Nexinnovation and they ended up replacing the Predictive failure drives. In all we replaced 6 drives out of 28 drives. We don't know if the drives became predictive failure due to the firmware upgrade or the firmware upgrade identified the drives as predictive failure.
All is back to normal now.
