HD Online LED did not turned on issue

There were six HD configured as a RAID 5 logical drive in HP Proliant DL 380 G3 server.

I found that the Online LED did not truned on for two of six HD.Other four HD have Online LED truned on.

The fautl LED also did not get flashing when i run the ACU from windows for those two problematic HD.

So,i would like to know if there were any way i could fix this problem.

The LED's on the SCSI Backplane have failed, and this is common. Replace the SCSI Backplane.

I had an identical problem in a DL380 G2, and it was indeed damaged LEDs.

Replacing the backplane is the most immediate fix, BUT -- You may not want to throw out the old one. If you're good with soldering/desoldering small surface-mount LEDs, or know someone who is, you can replace the bad ones and have a perfectly good spare.

In fact, I just ordered some new LEDs for the backplane I pulled out of my G2. Repair, reuse, recycle -- hey, it beats adding to the landfill!

Admittedly, the SCSI Backplane's rarely fail other than the LED's.
