How to turn BL25P 2x Dual Core into BL25P 1 x Dual Core

Hello everybody,

im looking for some answers :-)

We have a BL25P with 2 x dual core CPU, but to save some applikation licence we have to take one Dual Core CPU out of the Blade.....

We had the same problems some month ago, but in that case we just had a BL25P with 2 x Singel Core CPU it worked fine with the "dummy" CPU so in the end we had a BL25P with just 1 x Core running.
In that case it was only possible to use one side of the ram modules.

To is there any possible like for the singel core to get the "dummy" CPU ??

Lets try it again.

1.) "Dummy" = CPU Blank Enabler Board from HP

2.) BL25P supports 4 x Ram Modules on each CPU

The 2nd proc and the dimm are tied together via the buses,thats why the dimms(last slots) will not be seen if second processor is not installed.

Ok and this is also support for dual core cpu´s ?

Or just with the single core ?

Not too sure how to find that.
All it says is 1P which is single processor.

As Sandeep already said, the second batch of DIMM Slots is directly connected to the CPU #2. If there's no CPU in the slot, there's no access from the first CPU to the second batch of DIMM slots. It doesn't matter if it's a 1-Core-CPU or a 2-Core-CPU, since seen from outside of the CPU there is no difference. Same bus and all. If you *need* the second batch of memory slots for reaching a certain amount of RAM, you *need* to have the second CPU in there, no way around it. That applies for all AMD Opteron Systems, since that's how these guys work.
