HP Netserver LC2000r Temperature SNMP OID.
Hello,
I have a Netserver LC2000 and a LC2000R server. I would like to use a program I have to get the CPU Temperature. For this I need the SNMP OID for CPU Temp. Have downloaded the Netserver MIB┬┤s from HP but I get no result when I use them. Do I have to have any special software running on the server so that I can use the HP MIB┬┤s? I have installed Instant TopTools.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Giuseppe

Re: HP Netserver LC2000r Temperature SNMP OID.
Hello Giuseppe,
did you tried with some other objects and could you retrieve those ?, just to see if all is setup correctly regarding SNMP queries.
i.e. on a LC2000r using snmputil
C:\snmputil walk 'servername' public .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.23.7.3.9
Variable = .iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.11.2.23.7.3.9.0
Value = String Windows 2000
End of MIB subtree.
-> to query the Operating System running on the server (a non HP specific OID)
C:\snmputil walk 'servername' public .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.36.1.1.5.1.1.10
Variable = .iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.11.2.36.1.1.5.1.1.10.1
Value = String FR04915062
End of MIB subtree.
-> to get the server serialnumber
C:\snmputil walk 'servername' public .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.23.21.3.1.1.2
Variable = .iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.11.2.23.21.3.1.1.2.0
Value = Integer32 131072
Variable = .iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.11.2.23.21.3.1.1.2.1
Value = Integer32 131072
Variable = .iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.11.2.23.21.3.1.1.2.2
Value = Integer32 0
Variable = .iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.11.2.23.21.3.1.1.2.3
Value = Integer32 0
End of MIB subtree.
-> example of the installed DIMM's size , as you see you got 2 DIMMS of 128 MBytes.
What OID are you using for the CPU temp ?
HTH
Kris

Re: HP Netserver LC2000r Temperature SNMP OID.
Hi Kris,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes SNMP is set up correctly, I can measure disk space read event log etc with snmp. But with the hpnsaenv-MIB for HP Netservers I run a simple get, and nothing is returned. I had a look and installed the agents on the Netserver for snmp. But I don├В┬┤t see an agent for the enviroment. The enviroment MIB I didn├В┬┤t get from HP, but from the following address.
http://www.assure24.com/product/517-snmp-mibs-download.htm
The OID iam using is: 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.23.26.3.1.1.6 (hpnsaEnv TemperatureSensor Reading) Even if I try the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.23.26.3 and use a get all subitems nothing is returned.
I think maybe it is because there is no Enviroment agent installed on the server, but where can I get this agent? I have downloaded all agents from HP, but this one is not there.
Thanks
Giuse
