HP Proliant DL160 G5 - flashing white cursor after post - system wont boot with any dvd drive

brand new out of the box server, configured raid 0+1 (mirror) that is showing ok.

no matter what optical drive i have tried, i cannot get the system to boot from it.

i have tried a dvd writer that is working from a dl120 g5, and the dl160 g5 shows it in the bios, but nothing boots, tried hp firmware cd, smartstart cd (i know that this server doesnt support it) & tried windows server 2003 cd1

have also pushed the magic yellow button on the motherboard to reset the bios, still the same thing.

contacted hp support but waiting on a call back.....

has anybody else had this issue?
