HP SIM Linux Installation Failure

hi all
I'm a new user on this forum ...
I have a problem with the HPSIM-Linux-C.05.01.00.00.bin installation (Fresh/new installation) which fails with a unknown error . i googled some times but there was not any answer for this problem or may be this problem occurs just for me ...
This is the error :
# sh HPSIM-Linux-C.05.01.00.00.bin
Verifying archive integrity...tail: cannot open `+6' for reading: No such file or directory
The package is from orginal cd which arrived with Server Machine ...
I'm trying to install on the CentOS5 machine but the machine is not an HP System and is a pc with CentOS !
Can you help me please ? How can i install the package ... Also can i install the package on a pc or should be an HP Machine ?
with the best regards ...

Re: HP SIM Linux Installation Failure

Got the same problem on Scientific Linux 5 another Redhat clone. Using the same file on Scientific Linux 4 all is happy, interestingly the md5sum changes depending on how you run it ?

The versions of tail have changed from 5.2.? to 5.97

before executing the .bin file set the _POSIX2_VERSION=199209

i.e. in bash
export _POSIX2_VERSION=199209
then execute the script.
That now works on Scientific Linux 5 so I presume all other derived versions of Redhat EL5.

Why they are using Makeself 1.5.5 would be a rather interesting question as this is the cause of the oboslete call to tail.
