P400 Array Controller config

I have a DL320S with 12 drives, need to use this as one large file store running win2003x64. Looking for the best way to configure so I don't loose much disk space. (I'd like to have all 12 drives in one array but windows doesn't like this)

Re: P400 Array Controller config

What size are the drives?

You can boot SmartStart to the ACU (Array Configuration Utility) and create multiple arrays. Create a small array for the C: Drive, and create a second array using the remainder for your file share.

Windows will see this configuration as two logical drives.

The drives are 750gb. - giving me trouble with windows 2tb limit I suspect.

Re: P400 Array Controller config

Good information. Yes, there have been some limitations around the 2TB mark.

Have you tried both MBR/Primary Partitions and Dynamic Disks? I'm wondering if Dynamic Disks may allow a larger logical disk, but I don't know.

So you're not actually having a problem creating the array using the ACU, but instead a Microsoft issue maybe?

I'm a bit of a novice and was hoping someone had some experience in this type of config.
