Proliant 1600R upgrade questions...

Hello!

I am the owner of a new (to me) Proliant 1600R dual PIII 450 server. I was wondering if I can upgrade the processors on this machine?

If so, how fast can I go?

Thanks in advance for any information!

Hi Erin,

You could check the partserver site for upgrades.

Here is a link:

Re: Proliant 1600R upgrade questions...

Thanks for the link, Gideon. I went there looking for information, but was unable to find what I was looking for, hence, the post here.

Any suggestions? I followed the "Find your part" section's link to the North America HP Parts Store, then entered my model info, and all it did was give me a list of parts that are in my machine currently. It did not suggest upgrades, nor did it mention the maximum speed processor my machine will accept.

Thanks!

With existing System I/O Board that support PIII 450 max PIII 500, however Processor Power Module should be replaced than to 329267-001

KOV,
I posted a similar reply in another thread...

I upgraded my single cpu PIII-500 PL1600R to dual PIII-600's w/o replacing the System I/O board (didn't know I was supposed to).

In the interest of avoiding any problems both short and long term, can you tell us why one should replace the System I/O board?

Thanks,
Andy
