RILOE II - Can't login using DNS name in URL
I cannot login to my RILOE II card with the DNS name I chose (myserver_loc), but I can if I use the IP address of the card (10.x.y.z). The DNS name resolves fine, it just won't accept the credentials (RILOE local account) The security cert is for myserver_loc. FQDN or the non-suffixed name (client suffixed) does not change the behavior.
Full info on card & network settings:
Firmware 1.20
Speed Autoselect: No
Speed:100
duplex: Full
Enable DHCP: No
(... bunch of greyed out values ...)
Register with WINS: Yes
IP: (10.x.y.z)
GW: (10.x.y.a)
SNM: (our std SNM)
board name: myserver_loc
domain name: (domain name of DNS entry for myserver_loc)
DHCP: greyed out
Primary DNS: 10.x.y.b
Secondary DNS: etc, etc, etc
Primary WINS: 10.x.y.b
Secondary WINS: etc, etc, etc
This is my first RILOE II so it could just be that I'm slow. Anybody else seen this behavior?
Many thanks,
Jeff

Re: RILOE II - Can't login using DNS name in URL
I suggest you first update the firmware from this URL:
http://h18013.www1.hp.com/support/files/lights-out/us/index.html
If it still does not resolve the DNS name, you can press F8 during post and set the card to defaults and set it up again.

Re: RILOE II - Can't login using DNS name in URL
OMG, 3 years later and I find the problem. I get this all the time, and never thought to use IP instead of DNS to try and login. I thought all my cards were going flaky. Thanks!!.
