Smart array cluster storage restart after power failure

I have two HP proliant 380 connected to a smart array cluster storage device. After a power failure, the servers and the storage device were powered off. When the power came back, the servers and the storage box started at the same time, but because the servers started to load the OS before the storage controller was completely initialized, the cluster service, and the applications couldn't start. Restarting the servers fixed the issue, but my problem is how to prevent this kind of problem to appear in case of a long power failure. Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thank you,

Cristian

Re: Smart array cluster storage restart after power failure

Hi,

you could get a UPS with at least 2 load segments (e.g. R3000XR). This covers 2 things:
1) The server shut down gracefully in case of a power failure
2) You can power up the systems in a certain order.

Connect the Storage Box to one load segment, and the servers to another. Configure the power restore settings of the UPS so that storage LS powers up immediately, and the servers LS waits a few minutes.

If you can't get a UPS, then I would disable the auto power on of the servers, and power them on remotely via iLO.

Regards,
Stephen
