DL165 G7 BIOS update with flashrom
Hi,
First, I would like to acknowledge that updating a DL165 G7 BIOS with tools other than from HP's are unsupported.
However specifically for DL165 G7's, I really don't get why HP doesn't have an online update utility. They do for G5p's. I can't explain the pain and frustration having to update 100's of servers with USB sticks.
This is what led me to flashrom.
I extracted the ROM file from the USB image and applied it with flashrom. Everything is cool with an update, execept for one thing: after a reboot, it doesn't seem to detect my disks/boot device until I reset it once more:
Issue #1:
Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key
/./-> reset /system1
everything is working well after this.
Issue #2 is when I downgrade to a lower ROM version. Example, from O3&_1017 to O37_0727, after the first reboot:
Detect a Unsame SDRR/Configuration Image in Current BIOS
BMC SDRR Version : 2.37.0.98 --> 2.33.1.226
Loading updated SDRR/CONFIGURATION to BMC -- DO NOT POWER OFF
Erasing Sectors Done!
Uploading SDRR: 100%
Uploading Configuration: 100%
Update SDRR/Configuration Image successfully
Resetting BMC.
(disconnects me from iLO. I reconnect...)

(everything is normal from this point)
It seems to try to downgrade the "BMC SDRR" from 2.37.0.98 to 2.33.1.226, decides it doesn't like it and takes it back to what it was (2.37.0.98).
I'm just trying my luck if anyone here has used flashrom for their DL165 G7's, encountered the same problems I have, and what workaround/s you ended up using?
cheers!
