Add Additional Expansion

 

Hi All,

 

I'm still newbie in storage area. i  have storage enclosure P2000 G3 existing ( Storage_Controller_Rear.png attached). On the next week, i want to add one enclosure expansion - HP D2700 Disk Enclosure (AJ941A) include 6 disk HP MSA 600 GB SAS 10K 2.5in (C8S58A). My Questions are :

  1. Please guide me how to connect this enclosure controller (existing) with a new enclosure expansion (New Additional Enclosure HP D2700 AJ941A), especially in SAS cabling layout from rear side.
  2. This storage existing contains storage datastore vmware. do i have to take this storage offline first or i can do this by online ? if this task need to be offline first, i will take vmware esx server down first and then i will connect this additonal enclosure expansion.
  3. Do i need update the firmware before add this expansion enclosure ? (Storage_Controller_Firmware_Existing.png attached)
