HP Power Protector not finding attached UPS for HP T1500 G3

I have an installed UPS that worked using the older HP Power Manager (verstion Z7550_0004).  We are upgrading all of our systems to Windows 7 64bit.   I've installed the latest version of the HP Power Manager for W7 64bit and it is not finding the UPS.   I can find the UPS in the device manager listed as "HID UPS Battery" but the HP software does not find it.  The UPS is an HP T1500 G3 and we have a lot of these in the field.  Why does this software NOT detect the UPS that the computer has no issues detecting?
