HPE Insight CMU v8.1 is now available on "HPE Software Updates and Licensing" site

A new version of HPE Insight CMU v8.1 is now available for download on the "HPE Software Updates and Licensing" site.

**IMPORTANT** : Customers upgrading from HP Insight CMU v7.3.2 or earlier versions of Insight CMU to v8.1 must obtain new license keys. The Insight CMU license key format has changed from v8.0 onwards. Keys for v7.3.2 or earlier versions do not work with Insight CMU v8.1 and later versions.
To obtain new license keys and v8.1 software, please follow detailed instructions mentioned at the end of this annoucement.

**IMPORTANT** : With the release of v8.1, Official support for Insight CMU v7.3.2 is discontinued.

HPE Insight CMU v8.1 Highlights:


- Elastic disk partitioning feature for deploying an image to compute nodes with different system-disk sizes. This feature attempts to reduce deploy image operation failures (due to differing disk sizes) by dynamically adjusting the target system-disk partition table.

- Diskless node management scaling is optimized to be more efficient. Adding and deleting large groups of diskless nodes performance is improved.

- Capturing and Deploying of Windows UEFI OS images is supported on select UEFI enabled Moonshot Server cartridges.

- CMU v8.1 introduces new parameter in cmuserver.conf enables setting the frequency of monitoring. Also, the monitoring engine is now capable to report arrays of data allowing to monitor. For example, coreload will report 2 values on a dual core system and 8 on an octacore system.

- CMU v8.1 introduces new tool which gathers firmware inventory from Gen8+ servers with iLO and iLOCM management cards.

- The terms backup and clone have been replaced with capture image and deploy image respectively in both the CLI and GUI

New OS and Hardware support:

- Ubuntu 16.04 is supported on HPE Ubuntu certified servers and Windows Server 2016 64-bit, Windows 10 64-bit are supported on specific Moonshot server cartridges.

Obtaining HPE Insight CMU v8.1 software and v8.x licenses from the "Software Updates and Licensing" site:

If customer has an active Insight CMU support contract, then go to Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support Center and click "Software updates and licensing" link

Step 1: You need to login into "Software Updates and Licensing" portal via HP Passport account. If you don't have passport account , please create and login.
Step 2: You will land onto "Software updates and Licensing" home page where it shows "Select an SAID" or "Directly enter an SAID"
Step 3: Enter the SAID number and check "terms and conditions" checkbox and finally click "View available products"
Step 4: You will be redirected to "Software Updates and Licensing - product list" page. List of products associated with the given SAID number will be displayed.
Step 5: Choose your product from the drop-down list "Show a single category/ product center".
Step 6: All your products are displayed in this page. You need to select the product and click on "Get software updates" link.
Step 7: Then, You will be redirected to "Software Updates and Licensing - downloads" page. If you want to download software, click on "Get Software" link.
Step 8: Select the relevant "Software" i.e., “HPE Insight CMU v8.1 DVD” and click "Download" link (or) "Use HPE Download Manager".
Step 9: If you want to download license, click on "Get License" lnk.

How to download Insight CMU v8.1 Patches from HPE Support Center:


Step 1: Go to
Step 2: "Sign-in" via HP Passport credentials.
Step 3: Under "Product Support" Tab, click "Download Options" in the left-hand column of the web-page, and then click the "Patch Management" link.
Step 4: You will be redirected to "Welcome to Patch Management" page. If you don't see "Welcome to Patch Management" page, please contact HPE Support Center.
NOTE: You must have an active software updates support agreement in your HP Enterprise Support Center profile in order to access Patch management.
Step 5: Click on "Find patches by product" (middle of the page); then click on "Cluster Management Utility".
Step 6: Add Patches of "Insight Cluster Management Utility V8.1" to the download basket and click "Download Selected".
