Default Administrator Password
I've recently taken over responsibility for an ML350 server. It has version 5.0 of the Web Management Agents. I'm trying to login as the administrator but I don't know the password. I can't find reference to the default password anywhere on the HP/Compaq support site.
Does anyone know what the default password is when it's installed?
Thanks for your help!
Greg

Re: Default Administrator Password
I'm not 100% sure on the older agents but I think it could've been blank, which you've no doubt tried.
If you've got a server that's working then you could try copying the file
c:\compaq\wbem\cpqhmmd.acl from that server.
Again, I'm not sure if this is the file used by the older agents.

Re: Default Administrator Password
I have CIM v4.9 - v6.20 agents running on our enterprise servers.
The default user = administrator
The default pswd = administrator
This can be changed at anytime by editing
%systemdrive%\compaq\wbem\cpqhmmd.acl.
This is true for all versions of CIM agents.

Re: Default Administrator Password
The default Password feature was discontinued as it was seen as a security vulnerability (some public bugtracking sites claimed you could gain access to Compaq Servers with administrator/administrator acct/pwd).
Ever since SmartStart 5.3, the Web Agents have not had a default password for any of the 3 accounts (administrator, operator, user). If you upgraded over a previous version, the previous password (whether default or not) would be carried forward...
Editing the ACL file is not supported by HP (the passwords therein are hashed).
You can regain access to the webagents on this server if you have OS access to it by the steps outlined in the first 2 paragraphs of the attached FAQ I'm working on.
