Disk Threshold Notifications
I have an issues that is seriously confusing me. I have set disk threshold alarms for all my servers. 95% critical with a reset of 90%. The warning alarms is set to 85% with a reset value of 80%. Some systems which have broken the critical threshold will send off about 200 emails within a second or less of each other. I have checked by tasks. SNMP polling is set for every 5 minutes within CIM and the interval is set for every 8 hours.
Please help.....cannot make the emails stop.....
Thanx,
Phil

Re: Disk Threshold Notifications
Keep in mind that there was an error made in the way IM7 handles disk space threshold issues. It does not matter whether it is a warning or critical trap, they are both translated to a critical event in IM7. This to me was a serious oversight but one that could easily be fixed by the developers.
I just wanted to point that out to you so you know that if you get a critical event that says disk space threshold has been crossed, it will most likely be your minor threshold that you setup.
Now on to your issue. Can you provide me with information onhow you setup the email task? some screenshots may be helpful.
did you create a seperate query for just disk space monitoring and include just that in your query?
And is your email notification task make reference of that query?
I need more info to help you out.but I think the answer lies in the way you created the notification task

Re: Disk Threshold Notifications
1. I created the email task to work off the All Server Email Notification query. This query uses all systems of type Server. This task will notify when new events or devices meet the query criteria. I created a Control task to set device thresholds. The critical threshold is set for 95% and the reset value is 90%. The warning threshold is set to 85% and the reset value is 83%. The interval value is set to 28800 seconds and is applied to all devices query. All devices are servers within CIM.
2. I used the all devices query for the disk threshold task. In the email notfication I am using a notification for all events.
3. The email notification makes reference to the All Server Email Notification query which includes all devices and all events.
Thanks for the help,
Phil

Re: Disk Threshold Notifications
This is your reply below that I'm quoting.I appreciate the reply. Sorry it has taken so long to get back...had some nasty issues here.
"2. I used the all devices query for the disk threshold task. In the email notfication I am using a notification for all events."
You're using a notification for all events. That means to me that you will get alerted on any traps that comes in whether it is informational, normal, minor, major and critical.
instead of all events, use a mor defined selection such as for example all important events or choose the major and critical events.
