Im7 doesn't recognize himself!
i have an IM7 SP2 server. The harware status of the server that runs IM7 is red, and the Device Type is Unknown. If i want to edit this device, it is said that it doesn't exist
But it works: i can access IM7, the Insight Management Agents and the System Management Homepage directly with IE!
Moreover, i can add with a manual discovery an other server with the same caracteristics as the IM7 Server( name, IP adress,etc...) and then the new server is recognized!
But i can't delete the one that is not recognized: i have this message "The Insight Management 7 Server cannot be deleted. It is required for the reporting of system events."
Does anybody has any idea where this problem comes from?
(sorry for my skills in english ;) )

Re: Im7 doesn't recognize himself!
check or verify the snmp settings on the im7 server are pointing to the im7 server. ie enter the ip of the im7 server in the snmp configuration.
check or verify the snmp traps also.
on im7 settings > discovery > manual discovery > miscellaneous > clear locks on all devices.
in im7 settings > server > database > clear older historical data now

Re: Im7 doesn't recognize himself!
I followed your advice but it doesn't change anything!
David>>I didn't rename the server after the installation. Is it possible to save the list of all the discovered devices, clear the database and then discover devices thanks to the saved-list?

Re: Im7 doesn't recognize himself!
It works but it seems to launch 2 update's processus: one by the good IM7 server and one by the one which don't work. The second processus is stopped and this create a critical event "HTTP Status 409 - Conflict" that means that "the request could not be completed due to a conflict with the current state of the resource (Conflict)".
So I really have 2 occurences of the IM server but only one is working correctly.

Re: Im7 doesn't recognize himself!
After this , there's only in IM7 console the IM7 server. Everything is OK, the device is well recognize. I noticed that in "Manual Discovery - Edit Devices" the option "Resolve IP address (DNS lookup)" was not set up.
At this point, "Automatic Discovery-IP Address Ranges" is automatically filled by the network wich contains the IM7 server. I created a hostfile wich contains all the previously discovered devices, except the IM7 server, and added it in the IP Address Ranges.
Then I have launched the discover.
And then I have again the same problem: I have 2 devices wich represent the IM7 server, the first created by default wich doesn't work that I can't delete, and another one with the same name wich work perfectly!
Is it a bug or someone has trow me a fate?
