Name Resolution
We have recently installed Insight Manager 7 and have been unable to resolve the server name from a browser. We can get as far as the login screen but nothing happens after you enter your login information and press the Login button. If you use the IP address and port number of the server, you can login without a problem. This happens at any workstation as well as the CIM7 server. Any ideas?

Re: Name Resolution
It is a problem with Internet Explorer and names with underscores "_" ... After applying Security Update Q321232 you should have problem resolving name with underscores "_" ....
Okay, here is two solutions: You can go in "Settings" -> "Security" and in "Device Links" you will be able to select to communicate by IP Addresses instead of Device Name ... By doing this, you may have a problem to access compaq agents under Windows on the CIM7 Machine....
The other solution... Leave the "Device Link" to Device Name (default value) and recreate and DNS entry in your hosts file on the CIM7 computer... First, you will have to delete all devices that have underscores and you are having problems to log in, second, for all those computers, you have to recreate an entry in the WinNT\System32\Drivers\ETC\Hosts file. When you ask for a name, the application will look in your own hosts file for name resolution then it will look in the DNS server if nothing is found.
Basically, create a DNS name without underscore in your host with the server IP address. Do that for each one, then add them back to CIM7.....
I'll come back later for any questions about this reply
Peace
