Alerts from LAN interface and ILO

I'm getting alerts sent to SIM from the LAN interface as well as the ILO interface so we're getting each alert twice. I have "Enable SNMP ILO Alerts" configured to Yes and "Forward Insight manager Alerts" configured to Yes in the ILO SNMP settings. Is there a way to ONLY have the ILO send alerts and NOT the lan interface so we don't get duplicate alerts?

Re: Alerts from LAN interface and ILO

Disable the ILO Forwarding SNMP Alerts.
Your standard SNMP is probably configured to send Traps to HPSIM, you don't need the ILO to send them as well.

You'll might want the ILO to send any alerts it generates directly in case the Server itself is unavailable.

OK -- but leaving "Enable SNMP ILO Alerts" configured to Yes will still send traps (through the ILO) if say the LAN interface lost connection but the server is still up?

Can I ask why you want to get alerts on a system when there is a hardware failure? Wouldn't you want to fix the hardware failure of the NIC instead of seeing the other traps.

The nice thing about iLO forwarding is for DMZ servers, or servers that you cannot get directly to for whatever reason over the LAN interface.

Typically the iLO interface is setup on a subnet a little more accessible and then you can use that to forward messages off.

Otherwise, disable iLO forwarding of messages.

Re: Alerts from LAN interface and ILO

We do have ILO on a seperate VLAN but it is useful to receive a "NIC Connectivity" error message if the switch it's connected to goes down. Otherwise I'll be paged that servers are down when acutally the switch is down. In either case I see your point and we'll change our settings so we're not getting duplicate alerts. Thanks.
