Checking HTTP server...." after upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1 SP1 + Hotfix
I have read a lot of the postings on this subject but am still confused as to what to really do.
I have been running 5.0 for over a year on a server with MSDE.
I use a DB-admin local admin account for MSDE and Serv_HP-SIM domain Admin account for the following services (done by default install):
HP Systems Insight Manager
HP PMP Tools
HP Performance Management Pack
Open SSH Server
These usernames and their respective passwords have special (non-alpha) characters.
All other HP services run under SYSTEM account.
This worked from the start with 5.0. Now it doesn't since the upgrade. The DB and MSDE (MSSQLSERVER service) work fine. SNMP as well.
It seems clear that it is an authentication issue between HP-SIM to the DB but I am not sure how to go about solving it.
Is the problem with the non-alpha characters in the HP-SIM service account, or in the DB account? (It seems that most people use the same domain account to run both authentications.)

This too will pass...

Re: Checking HTTP server...." after upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1 SP1 + Hotfix
Ran the command :
mxpassword -m -x MxDBUserPassword="newpassword"
as seen in post "Subject: Checking HTTP Server Status" from "uptonlark" with a new password which includes only alphanum characters and it now seems to be working.
