Hey all, I'm trying to run SIM 5.3 "Configure or Repair Agents" on three DL380 G4 servers and the process keeps Failing. Here's a part of the "failure" in the log:
//////////////////////////////////
Starting OS Scout
Remote Target is Windows Host
Creating Session
Starting Discovery
Discovery Process Finished
Installed Components: None.
Component File Name: cp006281.exe
Component Name: hp Management Agents for Windows 2000/Server 2003
Dependency failed. Its installation requires one or more of the following that
is not currently installed or in the install set:
- HP ProLiant Advanced System Management Controller Driver for Windows
- HP ProLiant iLO Advanced and Enhanced System Management Controller Driver
for Windows
- HP ProLiant iLO 2 Management Controller Driver for Windows
Component File Name: cp007354.exe
Component Name: HP Version Control Agent for Windows
Dependency failed. Its installation requires one or more of the following that
is not currently installed or in the install set:
- HP System Management Homepage for Windows
////////////////////////////////////
I've updated pretty much everything I can find on the HP website regarding drivers or firmware or software. My DL360s are running with SIM just fine. Is there any additional software tweaking that needs to be done for these servers?
Thanks,
Joe B

Solution
Hi Joe B,
On the target machine, install the following before running the "Configure or Repair Agents" task on SIM,
Install it in the following order because, First one is the prerequisite for the second, 3rd & 4th is the prerequisite for the 5th.
1. HP System Management Homepage for Windows
2. HP Version Control Agent for Windows
3. Install SNMP and configure it.
4. Install atleast any one of them from a,b and c
a) HP ProLiant Advanced System Management Controller Driver for Windows
b) HP ProLiant iLO Advanced and Enhanced System Management Controller Driver
for Windows
c) HP ProLiant iLO 2 Management Controller Driver for Windows
5) hp Management Agents for Windows 2000/Server 2003
Make sure HP System Management Homepage for Windows on target is trusted with SIM before discovery and running Configure or Repair Agents task.
You will find all these softwares on latest Smart start CD from HP
I believe this info can help you out rather than pinching your DL380G4 :-) (just kidding)
Thanks
Predator

Re: DL380 G4 servers need tweaking???
Hey Predator, I was looking through your instructions and realized that all of the software listed was already installed. Well, almost all of the software--there was no System Management Homepage. I downloaded that off of the HP site and installed it. Then I ran the update for the VCA for Windows and it installed successfully. I'll get this installed on the rest of my DL380 G4s.
Thanks for the tip,
Joe B
