- SUSE Linux Server 9 for x86 with Service Pack 4, AMD64 and Intel EM64T with Service Pack 3
this is the list of supported Linux OSs.
I have never tested it on non commercial version of Linux, I don't know whether checks are being performed at the begining of the installation.
Nothing prevent you from trying, however, keep in mind that in terms of support you are completly off tracks.
Which OS are you willing to try ?
regards
fred

Re: HP SIM on non commercial Linux - posible?
I├в m a windows admin in my daily work so i don├в t have any linux preferences.
Can you recommend any candidates?
My plan is to create a virtual ESXi appliance for trivial hardware monitoring. E.g. Disks, Fans etc.
Making a virtual machine monitor the host it resides on must sound stupid ├в but it is only meant to catch pre-failures and other minor hardware error / information.

Re: HP SIM on non commercial Linux - posible?
I've installed CentOS 5.4 and after that I followed this guide:
http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18696
And surprise surprise - that did the trick!
I've just logged in on the magic blue website :-)
Next is to see if everything works like expected.
A little note on the guide: I didn't receive the error that's was described!
