I am having problems installing HPSIM

I go through the whole process and when I go to log into the GUI it hangs. The status bar message reads: Applet com.hp.mx.portal.applet.baseapplt.testApplet Started

And then just sits there.

I have a machine dedicated to this software With a partition created just for the install.

Please help

Re: I am having problems installing HPSIM

See various threads re: java and the ms04-025 patch.
Then download and install the SP1 patch for HPSIM which fixes the problem.

Re: I am having problems installing HPSIM

Thanks.

Maybe you can also help with this.

I finally got a PSP to install and trust to work as I think it should. But th icons next to the server names still show as not-trusted on most servers. I did a replicate agent settings from a server that appears correctly and the event log shows it worked right I then did a deployment of PSP 7.10A but still the icons are wrong.

Any ideas?

Re: I am having problems installing HPSIM

Have you tried another "Software Status Polling" task on the affected servers? That usually resolves the problem.

Re: I am having problems installing HPSIM

I did after I posted a reply. Thanks

Your pretty knowledgable on this software. It really has taken me a while to get it going but finally seems to be taking shape.

What about printers. I want to monitor and do reporting on printers. It allows me to add but the alerting and reporting seems limited. Can you get a page count from a printer? What about low toner?

Re: I am having problems installing HPSIM

HP SIM is not designed to monitor printers except to provide up /down status via the HW status polling task.

If you are using HP printers I would recommend that you download a copy of HP Web JetAdmin. This software will allow you to monitor your printers and send e-mail alerts for the conditions you specified. It can also be integrated into the HP SIM menus so that you can select a printer and then go directly to the printer's web page for configuration and status info.

You can also configure the printers to send traps to your SIM server

For more information go to

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc-JAVA/offweb/vac/us/en/en/network_software/wja_overview.html

The technical whitepapers will provide the information on integrating Web Jetadmin with SIM.

Re: I am having problems installing HPSIM

You rock!

What about reporting?

I use WebJetadmin now. I will read your info about intergrating with HPSIM.

Re: I am having problems installing HPSIM

Web JetAdmin has a reporting plug-in product that you can purchase. There is a link to it on the main Web JetAdmin page.
