I am trying to get the middle column 'mp' provide me relevant information. I have discovered servers I know that have iLo boards on them. I have configured the IM agent so it trusts and sends traps to the mgmt server. I have configured and synchronized the VCR and VCA's on the mgmt servers and managed nodes.
Now I am trying to understand the process by which HPSIM speaks with the iLo boards.
I can get to the iLo web gui, via the IM agent, and login, I have configured the snmp trap destinations, and have set the options to forward traps etc.
Other than that I am not sure what to do to get a green check to show in the mp column?
I have reviewed the HPSIM documentation, plenty on managing licenses around iLo, but nothing I could find that clearly outlines how this is done.
Any help or direction to specific documentation would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Joe

SolutionYou mention discovering the servers but not the iLO. iLO has its own IP address and it must be discovered too. Once discovered, hpSIM asks the iLO to identify itself and one of the responses contains information about the server that it is in that hpSIM uses to do the association with the server.
Unless you can see the iLO in question when viewing the results of the "All Management Processors" system list there is nothing to associate.
You also can improve hpSIM's ability to do the association by setting the iLO's response to 'high'
Administration tab --> SNMP/Insight Manager settings --> HIGH

Re: iLo and HPSIM discovery/integration
I reran the discovery, made sure Management Processors were checked in the discovery filter and put the RIGHT network range for the iLo devices, and things are working fine.

Re: iLo and HPSIM discovery/integration
which protocols need to be enabled to the iLO to discover? My Ilo's are in a DMZ I have 161/2381/2301 etc turned on for the servers but not for the iLO's (icmp only there) - do I need these as well?
I think I've answered my own question here - SNMP would probably come in REAL handy.
Cheers
Tiby
