Installation failure - unsupported database

Hi all,

Encountering a strange issue with the installer for 7.1. Regardless of whether I point it at the local SQL Server 2008 Express SP2 instance or at a remote SQL Server 2008 Standard SP1 instance, the installer fails with this error:

"The HP Systems Insight Manager Installer detected an unsupported database version. The installation cannot continue. See the HP Insight Management Support Matrix for the list of supported database versions."

Both of the MSSQL versions I'm attempting to use are on the list of supported versions. What gives?

I know that I can successfully connect to the database with the credentials I'm giving the installer, because I can create an ODBC connection to the same place without any issue.

I'm supposed to have this up and running today, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Details:

Server is Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

Installer is HP SIM 7.1

Database instances are either SQL Server 2008 Express SP2 or SQL Server 2008 Standard SP1.

I'd be happy to provide any other details that would help.

Thanks!!

Re: Installation failure - unsupported database

Hi,

I have seen this before if the Windows Resource Manager is installed. It also installed the Windows Database. Try removing the WID and see if that helps.

If my post was helpful please award me Kudos! or Points :)

Re: Installation failure - unsupported database

Never did find out what the problem was here. The only way I was able to get around this issue was to install on a server that didn't have any databases or DB connections associated with it and let SIM install its own Express database. I'd really much rather have this in my regular 2008 Standard database though...
