Installation problems with HPSIM 5.3 Modules

Recently installed clean version of 5.3 from the April 2009 DVD. When I attempt to install the Remote Support or Version Control Repository Manager all I get is a DOS window which opens and closes. Server is a virtual but I have experienced the same issue on a physical server. Running ESX 4.0, server has 3GB or RAM, 18GB free disk on C:, a 20GB D: drive. HPSIM runs fine otherwise.

Any suggestions what may be causing this?
