Management Processor Status in HP SIM
Last week I spent a lot of time making sure that all my management processors RIB and ilo's were properly discovered and linked to their parent server. I had a beautiful looking status page, each server had a check in the MP block and every MP was linked up. This week I opened the status page and many of the MP statuses are missing. Looking at the situation deeper, when I go to the RIB/ilo it points back to it's parent server. I'd really like to get these re-linked with out having to go back and delete the MPs and rediscover them.

Re: Management Processor Status in HP SIM
Well I don't remember making any changes but apparently the servers that were not linking had the SNMP security string for my HP SIM set to Read/Create instead of Read Write. Just don't know why all of a sudden SIM no longer accepted R/C?!

Re: Management Processor Status in HP SIM
Several of my servers also seemed to have "mysteriously" changed to read/create and caused problems early this week or late last.
Does anyone know of anything strange going on ?
Could there be a vulnerability or exploit out there being toyed with ?

Re: Management Processor Status in HP SIM
Interesting, Read / Create actually allows greater access than Read / Write.
Why changes to that should affect the operation I cannot guess. I know that an earlier recommendation was to set theSNMP Community to Read / Create but this was later pulled back to Read / Write.
