Next release of SIM 5 (SP1?)

Hello,

Anyone know when HP will be releasing a major update to SIM next - for example SP1 or 5.1?

I have been holding off upgrading SIM 4.2 until the first SP (or version 5.1) because of all the problems I have been reading about.

Any info out there on this?

Thanks for the link - but this just seem to be about version 5.0. I am trying to find out if HP will be releasing an update to version 5 soon (for example 5.1). Just trying to determine if I can wait or if I should just bite the bullet.

Hi Nelson,

Rather than go for the big bang approach, why don't you build up a SIM 5 server and run it alongside your current version? I have just done this and I have to say the SIM 5 installation was surprisingly painless - I certainly haven't had any of the problems encountered by some correspondents. This may be down to doing a clean installation rather than an upgrade (?), and whats more, its now recognising all our virtual (guest) servers - something that our SIM 4.2 never did manage to crack.

I've got just under 200 mixed windows\netware servers on my system btw. I'm running SIM5 on a Windows 2003 SP1 virtual server - the host is VMWare ESX 2.51.

'Service Pack 1' in fact has already been released, but it is a special release that contains support for the HP Storage Essentials product. If you are not using Storage Essentials you don't need it.

A Service Pack 2 release is coming up shortly and I'll post details soon.
