No management processor discovered in server

we have a huge amount (>500) of Compaq/HP Proliant servers that we monitor with SIM 5 (build C.05.00.00.00). On 2 systems we have problems to correctly associate the RILOE with the server. All devices were removed several times from SIM and added again, SMTP comunity strings are set correct. The RIB with firmware version 2.53 recognizes that it's inserted in the correct server (banner on top of the RIB page). The server is a DL380 running on W2k with PSP 7.30 installed.
How we can force SIM to recognize the RIB belongs to the server ?

Re: No management processor discovered in server

The behaviour I've seen is that if I add the IP Address or hostname of the ILO as a managed device as well as the server, then it will show on the server AND as a separate device.

If I delete the separate ILO device I lose the MP icon associated with the server.

Not exactly how I'd like it to show up when I look at "All Devices" since we monitor a few SNMP only servers as well. But that appears to be how it is designed.

Re: No management processor discovered in server

Due to the fact we have DHCP enabled and sometimes a few test servers are not operational for some weeks, we can not use the solution with entering IP's and we have to enter the DNS names. So we not can follow your solution. Any other ideas ?

Re: No management processor discovered in server

What I mean is that the ILO needs to be added as a monitored device as well as the server for the MP icon to show up on the server.

So when you look at "All Devices" you will see 2 lines for the server. One for the server itself and one for the ILO.

We do not use DHCP on our servers here so I cannot comment on how SIM works with that.

As far a having dev devices down for periods of time you can suspend monitoring of those systems under "tools and links" on the device's "system page" in SIM when you have planned downtimes.
