SIM hot backup ?
Hi all!
I'd like to backup my SIM 4.2 database with SQL Server tools without stopping the SIM service, but I can read in the sys-book, step 1 for backing up the database (p. 484) : "Log out of HP Systems Insight Manager, and stop the HP Systems Insight Manager Service."
Is this really necessary or does the backup also work without stopping the service?
Regards

Re: SIM hot backup ?
Depends how time critical the data is.
Generally if an event was missed after a recovery of the database, would you care?
The guaranteed way of backing up Servers is the one usually documented, but SQL Server Backup should secure a useable database.
