Thermal Overload, System Reboots automatically

I have a DL380 G2 with the Insight Agents on it. It had a Thermal Overheat. The Agents shut down the server and rebooted it. It kept repeating this cycle. How do you modify the actions of the Agents? I would prefer on a Thermal Overheat for the server to power down. Any suggestions on how to do this? Thanks!

Go to the agent on that server. Click on the enviromental link and there is an option to 'continue'(reboot) or shutdown on thermal condition. Choose the shutdown option and click set.

Can you give me the location of those Agent menus? I have not been able to find them on that server. Thanks!

Depends on the OS and version of the Agents.
But there should be a Recovery Section, look at Environment.

Re: Thermal Overload, System Reboots automatically

I found the Environment page on the Systems Management page of the server. There are two options - Continue and Shut Down. I clicked the Set button even though the Shut Down was already selected. Is there any reason the server would keep rebooting even if this was already set?

Re: Thermal Overload, System Reboots automatically

Be sure you have thermal paste between your CPU and the heatsink. Last month we had the same problem with a new DL360 G3. Thermal reboot after 10 minutes of full CPU.

Our local support was called and they solved the problem by applying the missing thermal paste !

the server may reboots because ASR is activated.

Try to deactivate ASR, but I think it is strange that the server has overheat problems, are all fan inserted or is the room that warm ?

The problem was that if I deactivate the thermal shutdown/reboot, the server freeze completly !
