I have successfully installed HP SIM 7.1
I also included all exceptions in the Firewall as indicated in the Manual.
But I haven't been able to successfully launch HP SIM from the desktop icon or by directly opening "checksvc.exe".
:(
Please help.

Re: Unable to start HP SIM 7.1
Hi,
You'd have to give us something to go on!
- What DB version are you using?
- Is it local or remote?
- Are there any events being logged in the event log?
- How large is the DB?
- Can you log into the DB with the service account that's running SIM?

Upon launch of the checksvc.exe, the Internet explorer browser tries to open https://cnu2130nzf:50000/
but then it doesn't load anything.
Here are some details:
- OS: Windows 7 Professional SP1
- DB Version: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP1) - 10.50.2500.0
- I am trying a local connection
- Event log details: the following events are repeating
- Information [HP Systems Insight Manager] : HP Systems Insight Manager started.
- Error [HP Systems Insight Manager] : Could not open all web server ports, check for port conflicts, eg port 280, 50000, 50001, or 50002
- Warning [HP Systems Insight Manager] : Restarting MxDomainManager
- Information [HP Systems Insight Manager] : Restart was Successful
- Information [MSSQLSERVER] : Starting up database 'Insight_v50_0_164948156'.
I checked using netstat -oab for port conflicts and attached the full output here.
TCP 0.0.0.0:50000 CNU2130NZF:0 LISTENING 680
[wininit.exe]
TCP 0.0.0.0:50001 CNU2130NZF:0 LISTENING 1044
eventlog
[svchost.exe]
TCP 0.0.0.0:50002 CNU2130NZF:0 LISTENING 1112
Schedule
[svchost.exe]
Apparently, some windows services are listening to these ports.
but I cannot conclude anything right now, since I am new to this :(
Thanks in advance.

Re: Unable to start HP SIM 7.1
So SIM cannot start as other critical OPS processes are listening on 50000/50001. Try changing it to another port:

SolutionApparently the problem has been with the ports to be used by HPSIM are already used by some Windows services.
Thanks to your ideas, I was able to change the port 50000 to 50006, and so on.. and that did it.
